Handicap Lists

Handicap lists define the handicap value for each boat class. They are used when a series is configured with corrected time scoring.

Types of Handicap Lists

Type Description
Organisation List Created by your club, visible only to your organisation
Public List System-wide lists managed by Sailboat Racing administrators (e.g. the official RYA PY list)

Creating a Handicap List

  1. Go to Handicaps in the sidebar
  2. Click Create
  3. Fill in:
  4. Name - e.g. "Club PY List 2025"
  5. Slug - URL-friendly identifier
  6. Handicap System - PY, IRC, ASY, CYCA, ECHO, NHC, SCHRS, or YTC
  7. Add class handicaps:
  8. Class Name - the boat class (e.g. "Laser", "RS200")
  9. Handicap Value - the numeric handicap for that class

Editing a Handicap List

You can update handicap values at any time: 1. Go to Handicaps in the sidebar 2. Click on the list you want to edit 3. Add, remove, or modify class handicaps 4. Save your changes

Changes take effect for future scoring calculations. Existing completed races are not automatically re-scored.

Using a Handicap List in a Series

When configuring scoring for a series with corrected time: 1. Select the handicap system 2. Choose which handicap list to use 3. When race entries are added, their handicap values are looked up from the list based on their boat class

Viewing Public Handicap Lists

Public handicap lists are visible on the public website and can be used by any organisation.
