Race Lifecycle

Each race moves through a series of statuses.

Statuses

Scheduled

The race is planned but hasn't started yet. During this phase: - Add and manage entries - Set up start line assignments

If you record a start time and at least one finish while the race is still Scheduled, the admin panel shows a results preview. The preview appears on the race page (labelled "Preview results") and in the series standings in the admin panel. Nothing is published on the public site until you change the race status to Started or Completed.

Started

The race is underway. The start time has been recorded. During this phase: - Record finish times as boats cross the line - Add circumstances for boats that don't finish

Completed

The race has finished and all results have been recorded. Scores are calculated and standings updated.

Abandoned

The race was started but stopped before completion (e.g. due to weather). Abandoned races do not count towards series standings.

Postponed

The race has been delayed to a later date. It remains in the series but no results are recorded.

Changing Race Status

  1. Go to the race detail page
  2. Change the status to any other status using the dropdown

You can move between any statuses freely — for example, moving a Completed race back to Started if corrections are needed, or setting a Scheduled race directly to Abandoned.
