Scheduling Races
Races are created within a series. Each race represents a single sailed event with its own entries, timings, and results. Races are always created via the bulk scheduling screen — you can schedule one or many at a time.
How to Schedule Races
- Go to the series detail page
- Click Schedule races
- You'll see a form with one or more rows. Each row represents a race to create:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Race Name | Yes | Auto-populated as "Race 1", "Race 2", etc. based on existing races. You can override with a custom name. |
| Date & Time | Yes | When the race is scheduled. Defaults to the last race's date/time in the series (or the series start date for the first race). |
| Duration | No | Expected race duration in minutes |
- Use + Add race to add more rows
- Use the trash icon to remove a row (at least one race is required)
- Click Schedule N race(s) to create all races
All races are created in Scheduled status and can be edited individually afterwards.
Tips
- When you add a new row, it copies the date/time from the previous row — handy for scheduling a block of races on the same day
- Race names auto-increment, so adding 3 rows to a series that already has 5 races gives you "Race 6", "Race 7", "Race 8"
- You can schedule a single race by just leaving one row in the form
- Additional fields like race officer and notes can be added by editing the race after creation
Next Steps After Scheduling
- Add race entries - register the boats that will race
- On race day, record timings - start times and finish times
- Update the race status - mark as started, completed, or abandoned
