Timings are never lost to a bad connection
Timing boats on the water meant trusting the signal at the exact moment it matters least. A timing that could not reach the server was lost, and the screen had already moved on to the next boat, so you found out afterwards or not at all.
Every timing is now saved on your device the moment you record it, before anything is sent. Finish times, lap times, start times, marking a boat DNF and changing the race status all work this way. Nothing waits for the network, so a stalled connection cannot make you miss a boat.
Timings are sent in the background, in the order you took them, retrying on their own until they get through. A small sync strip under the race title tells you when something is still waiting, and stays quiet when there is nothing to say. Error messages no longer interrupt you mid-race.
The finish queue survives a reload too. Reopening the race brings back both the timings you have taken and the boats you had queued up.
Provisional results are honest about what they are missing. While timings are waiting, the results table is dimmed and says how many are not yet included, and it will not call itself final until everything has been sent.
Timing a race is one gesture now
The race timing screen used to give a tap on a sail number two different meanings. With Capture mode off, a tap sent that entry to the top of the list and you clicked its card to record a time. With Capture mode on, the same tap added the boat to a finish queue and the spacebar timed whichever boat was at its head. Which one you got depended on a button in the toolbar.
The queue has won. Tapping a sail number always adds that boat to the finish queue, and the Capture mode button is gone, as is Reset sort, which only existed to undo the old reordering.
Queue boats in the order they will cross. The first boat you tap is the first one timed, so you can queue a group as they come down the run and then work through them without looking away from the water. Tapping a boat that is already queued moves it to the front, for when boats overtake near the line.
The spacebar looks after itself. It records a time only while boats are waiting in the queue, so on a race page you have just opened it still scrolls as usual. There is no longer a mode to remember to turn on, or to turn off before you go back to editing.
More boats on screen. While boats are queued, the Entries heading becomes the queue heading and names the boat you are about to time, for example QUEUE (3) ยท NEXT 1234, so the queue no longer needs a caption of its own. On phones and tablets the bar at the bottom of the screen has dropped its next-up line and is now a single row. Between them, about an extra entry card of the list stays visible while you are timing.

Bulk edit race entries
When several entries in a race need the same correction (a group put in the wrong division, a class mistyped across ten boats, a visiting fleet that all needs the same club), editing them one at a time is slow. From the race detail page Bulk edit now puts every entry in the race on one screen as an editable row.
Only the columns you need. Columns picks which fields are shown, offering only the fields your series actually uses: handicap for handicap series, class when there is more than one, club, boat name and tally when enabled, start line when the race has more than one, divisions when the series defines them. Sail number and helm are always shown, so a row always identifies its boat. The choice is remembered in this browser.
Sorting that stays put. Click a column heading on a wide screen, or use the Sort by dropdown on a phone. Rows never rearrange themselves while you are typing, and blank values always sort to the bottom.
Handicaps behave as they do on the entry form. The cell shows the value inherited from the boat's class, greyed out, and turns solid once you give the entry its own. Clearing it goes back to inheriting.
All or nothing. Changed rows are marked and counted, and Save N changes records them together: either every change lands or none of them does. If the save fails, a message offers Retry and every row keeps your edits, so nothing needs retyping.
Bulk edit works whether or not the race is complete, since correcting entries afterwards is the usual reason to reach for it. Circumstances and finish or lap times are not editable here.

A rebuilt Import Entries screen
The screen for importing entries into a race has been rebuilt around a single question: where should these entries come from? It previously showed two fixed lists, the current series followed by every other boat in the organisation, with no way to narrow either.
Pick where entries come from. One From control at the top of the screen now chooses the source:
- Series: any series that ran in the last 12 months, showing each entry once with the start line and divisions it last used in that series.
- Race: any past race anywhere in your organisation that had entries, newest first. Options name the series, the race, its date and how many entries it had, so a race called "Race 3" is still identifiable.
- Organisation: everything recorded across the club in the last 12 months.
- This race (already entered): only what the race already holds, for checking at a glance that everyone is in.
The three import sources now cover a rolling 12 months counted back from today. They previously used the current calendar year, which left the list nearly empty every January.
One click for "the same entries as last week". When the race isn't the first in its series, a prompt above the list offers the previous race's entries: "Race 3 had 12 entries. Add the same entries to this race?" Taking it selects them all, leaving you to confirm.
Entries already in the race are now visible. They appear in the list greyed out and badged Already in this race. Searching for a particular entry now always tells you something: either it's there to add, or it's already racing. Previously they were hidden, so a search for an entered boat reported no matches, which looked identical to the boat not existing.
A way forward when the list comes up short. If a search finds nothing, or the source is exhausted, the screen offers a one-click link to widen the source to the whole organisation, keeping whatever you typed.
A calmer layout. The toolbar is now a single line: the source and a search box. The Add N entries button has moved to a bar that appears along the bottom of the screen only once you've ticked something, so there's no permanently greyed button. Adding a boat that has never sailed before has moved out of the toolbar to a link at the end of the list, where an escape hatch belongs.
Undo. Entries you import in this session gain an Undo link beside Edit, so a mistake can be taken straight back out without leaving the screen.
Nothing is lost when you leave. The chosen source is part of the page address, so opening an entry to edit it and pressing back returns you to the same list.
